Dannielle Tegeder presents a new version of
her work, Library of Abstract Sound, further
exploring the relationship between abstract
imagery and sound. Tegeders unique works
on paper, inspired by early 20th Century
Modernism and Constructivism, line the walls on
a series of shelves in a library setting and are
accompanied by corresponding sound pieces. A
computer program transcribes her individual
drawings into abstract music, playing in the
library while a nearby flat-screen monitor shows
the specific drawing that matches the sound.
Tegeder also introduces new mixed media wire
mobiles, three-dimensional reflections of her
works on paper, extending the library space and
multiplying the experience for her audience.

As contemporary Islamic
art emerges with prominence challenging the
Western art hegemony Iranian artists seem to
play a major role in this development [...]
Nicky Nodjoumi, the Iranian born artist
living in New York, is among a generation of
artists who have pioneered and expanded the very
idea of contemporary art in Iran. Although he
has been absent for several years from his own
country, he remains one of the most influential
living Iranian artists to date.
What is most notable about
Nodjoumis art is the clever balance he
continues to maintain between what is authentic
and what is universal. He combines Persian
metaphors, visual iconography and Iranian
political reality with influences and
peculiarities borrowed from his host country,
that of American culture and politics. It
appears as if, like all people who exist in a
hybrid manner, Nodjoumi is capable of
speaking to and talking about two different
worlds simultaneously. Ultimately, one could
claim that Nodjoumi is a storyteller with
an accent; he tells us bleak and dark narratives
rich with allegory, irony and ambiguity.
